ACI recently revised its membership criteria and removed the 'national' and 'international' categories, replacing these with a single membership category. Once the effects of these changes have been incorporated it is expected that ACI will have 'over 19,000 members in 78 countries of which 61 will currently have affiliated national associations.
The Association has a clear mission statement as reiterated by its President, Heering Ligthart of Fortis Bank (Nederland) Amsterdam at the time of his election. It is 'to be regarded within the business community, financial services industry and by the authorities and media as the leading association representing the interests of the financial markets and to actively promote the educational and professional interests of the financial markets and industry'.
A Council comprising the Presidents of each of the affiliated national associations governs ACI. From this group is elected an Executive Committee comprising a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Chairmen of the Board of Education and the Market Practices Committee (CFP) and Regional
& Sub-Regional Executives.
The Association's Secretariat is based in Paris. Its Managing Director and the Senior Executive of ACI Education are currently based in the UK.
